Live Luxe With our May Babe

The Babes take on the east coast with our May feature! This NYC fashion blogger gave us an inside look into her passions, her blog Luxe Material, and her daily life in the big city.  So sit back, relax, sip on a cold brew and meet this month's Babe, Lily!

How/When did you discover your love for fashion?

Growing up, I was always a tomboy and I was never interested in fashion. When I was in my junior year of high school, that’s when I started to have an interest in it. I started looking at Pinterest for outfit ideas and started to gain my own fashion sense. As I took an interest in fashion, it has become my mood expresser as well as my confidence booster. Nothing can take down a girl who is feeling herself!

When did you start blogging?

I started blogging about a year ago! I already had my blog’s name and the website, but I didn’t know what was stopping me. One day, I just decided to go for it and it has been the best decision I ever made.

Your blog articles cover everything from your favorite boyfriend jeans to your new found love for stripes… what inspires your ideas?

Simplicity. As much as I love seeing unique and complex outfits, simplicity has always been my style. I had always preferred the classic style with some pops of texture or color sometimes. Just like how Coco Chanel once said, “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take one thing off.”

One piece of clothing you could not live without!? (favorite band tee, pink pj pants, etc.)

That is so hard! My closet is full of classic and timeless pieces that I feel every girl should have in her closet! However, time and time again...I have always one back to the simple white tee! It’s effortless and classic!

When you’re not blogging/writing what do you like to do?

All of my friends know that I’m obsessed with Golden Retrievers! I volunteer at a local animal shelter and that gives me, my puppy fix!

I love spending time with my friends and having mini photo shoots! It’s always spontaneous and it creates great memories! I have thousands of photos throughout high school and college. When I look back at them, it shows me all of the incredible people I have either have/had in my life!

What has been the biggest reward/challenge of maintaining a social presence?

Biggest reward: Meeting amazing girls and collaborating with amazing brands. I have met some amazing people that I couldn’t believe I would actually connect with. It’s a whole other world that I’m grateful to be apart of.

Biggest challenge: Creating content. I love what I do but sometimes it’s hard to constantly create. We can get lost with creating content, producing it and then moving on to the next concept. Sometimes when I finish my content, I have to work on the next. If you don’t have content regularly, then people move onto the next thing.

What advice can you give other women looking to launch their own blog?

Don’t create a blog just to look for followers. Create a blog because you are genuinely passionate about your topic! When you are creating your blog because you are interested and excited, that passion will translate into your content more than someone who is just creating a blog for more followers!

What would you define as a “Babe with Coffee” ?

A “Babe with Coffee” is a babe who loves to wear red lipstick, dance in the rain, create memories and loves the people in her life. That coffee that she is drinking is her connection with her friends and her connection to just take a moment.

What is your goal/dream for the future?

My ultimate dream in the future is to travel the world and work with the top fashion houses. Basically world domination. Or, inspiring young girl to be the best version of themselves.

Thank you for being our Babe, Lily! xx

"We can sometimes be knocked down in our lives and it can be difficult to try to get back up. There has been one quote that I have always lived by and that is, “There will always be another day.” That means, as much as something sucks and as much as you feel like you’re alone...tomorrow is a new day and that day is something only you can make either better or worse!"
"My favorite coffee shop is called The French Workshop! It is a Parisian inspired bakery. Their main aesthetic is white marble and gold. So basically...if I was a bakery...then that would be me! My go-to is a Iced Caramel Macchiato."
